Software Update News

The Tools and Tabulation Committee is happy to announce that ForensicsTournament.net was chosen as the winning bid for our tool replacement project. SRP is providing support and troubleshooting as we test throughout the year.

ForensicsTournament.net was established in 2006 as a more efficient way of running speech and debate tournaments. In the last 17 years, over 3,300 tournaments have used their program. The main programmer, Danny Cantrell, is the Director of Debate at Mt. San Antonio College in Southern California. He will be developing a version of his software that will be specific to Stoa’s needs.

Over the summer, our Tools and Tabulation Committee will work closely with Danny to create an integrated tool that will replace Flowpad, Joy of Tournaments, StoaTrax, and Speechranks. Our goal is to have a full version ready to test at a few tournaments during the 2023-2024 season. If everything goes to plan, there will be a full rollout starting with registration for the 2024-2025 season.

We want to thank everyone who contributed to the Renovate to Innovate fundraising campaign. These funds will allow Stoa to build a tool that will take the place of expiring software, as well as provide new features that will improve the efficiency of tournament data.
